Best Meal Delivery for Ozempic & GLP-1 Users: A Dietitian's Honest Take

I'll be upfront: none of these meal delivery services are designed for GLP-1 users. Not one. They all market to the general "healthy eating" crowd and some have started slapping "Ozempic-friendly" on their websites without changing anything about their meals.

So instead of ranking them by marketing claims, I'm going to tell you what actually matters when you're on a GLP-1 and evaluating meal delivery. Then I'll tell you which services get closest.

What I Look for as an RD

Protein per meal

You need 25-30g minimum per meal. Most meal delivery services average 15-20g. That's not enough.

Portion size

Standard meal delivery portions are built for normal appetites. On GLP-1s, you might eat half a portion and be done. That's fine. But it means you're paying full price for half a meal. Services with smaller portions or snack-sized options work better.

Nausea-friendliness

Heavy, greasy, rich meals are a problem on GLP-1s, especially early on. Services that lean toward lighter preparations, grilled proteins, and simpler flavors tend to work better. More on this in our nausea management guide.

Fiber content

Most meal delivery is low fiber. You need 25-30g/day. Look at the nutrition labels. This matters more than most people realize, especially for managing constipation.

The Services Worth Considering

Factor

Pre-made meals, delivered fresh. Higher protein than most competitors. Many meals hit 30g+ protein. Smaller portions work well for suppressed appetites. The "Protein Plus" meals are the ones to look at. Worth trying for the convenience factor alone.

Best for: patients who want grab-and-heat simplicity with decent protein.

Trifecta

Focused on macros. You can filter by high-protein. Portions are standard size (which means large for most GLP-1 users, but leftovers are fine). Quality ingredients. Better for patients past the initial nausea phase who are eating more normally and want to dial in their macros.

Best for: patients who are comfortable eating and want macro precision.

BistroMD

Designed by a doctor, which is a step up from most services. Lower calorie meals that match GLP-1 intake patterns naturally. Protein is decent but not as high as Factor. The portions tend to be more appropriate for reduced appetites.

Best for: patients in the early months dealing with nausea and very low appetite.

What I'd Skip

Most "diet" meal delivery. If the marketing says "low calorie" or "weight loss meals," the protein is usually too low. You're not trying to restrict calories. The medication handles appetite. You're trying to maximize nutrition in whatever you can eat.

Meal kits (HelloFresh, Blue Apron, etc.) These require cooking. When you're nauseated and eating 800 calories, you're not going to cook a 45-minute recipe. Pre-made is almost always better for GLP-1 patients, at least in the first few months.

My Honest Take

Meal delivery isn't a replacement for understanding your nutrition. It's a bridge. Use it on the hard days, the busy weeks, the times when cooking feels impossible. Combine it with simple meals you can prep yourself (bulk protein, easy sides).

If you want a structured plan instead of delivery, I have free and premium meal plans built specifically for GLP-1 medications. Every meal hits protein targets, includes nausea-friendly options, and comes with grocery lists.
