10 Simple Strategies for a better relationship with food, health, and your body.

WANT TO START MAKING SOME POSITIVE CHANGES TO YOUR EATING AND LIFESTYLE? HERE ARE SOME SMART TIPS YOU CAN START IMPLEMENTING INTO YOUR LIFE, TODAY.

  • Plants like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains provide us with nutrients that our bodies crave and are a great addition to meals or snacks. Include one fruit or vegetable with a meal or snack

  • Consider ways to include foods high in fiber into your diet. Fiber promotes fullness, helps regulate our digestion, and is connected to so many health benefits. Why not add oatmeal to your morning routine or sprinkle in granola with yogurt

  • Movement! Exercise is great, but other forms of movement can also be fantastic for our mood, our health, our energy, and our bodies. It doesn’t have to be complicated or make you sweat. In fact, walking or dancing for 10 minutes can bring many benefits. Learn ways to move in order to feel good

  • Do something to take care of yourself today. Add one positive action to your day, no matter how small. What are you going to do today to make yourself truly feel better? What do you need? Now’s a perfect time for that walk, task you’ve been putting off, 5 minute meditation, journal entry, yoga, trip to the grocery store, meal prep, or some other small task on your to-do list. Choose something simple right now that is an act of self-care

  • Prepare more food at home. Be prepared, save money, and learn some valuable skills in the kitchen. Cooking is human, and so are you. Prepare at least one meal at home, today. Keep it simple or make it complex. Progress is progress

  • Start the day with a balanced meal. Having something nourishing to start your day can build momentum towards other goals on your to-do-list and give your body fuel for the day. Yogurt with fruit, oatmeal, easy eggs, maybe even just a piece of fruit or toast with peanut butter

  • Make dinner simple! Prepare something earlier in the week, have the ingredients at the house, and have a prepared meal ready to go. It’s tough to try and come up with a reasonable dinner after a long day of work, so do yourself a favor and plan something ahead of time, so you don’t end up ordering take-out or delivery. Choose a recipe today and plan a day to make it this week

  • Don’t be scared of frozen fruits and vegetables! They are as nutritious, if not more so, than fresh fruit at the grocery store. Make life easy and have these options to quickly cook up and add to a meal! Give it a shot, and even try microwaving vegetables for an easy side dish for dinner

  • Find a vegetarian dish to make at home. Try something new and make it a priority to expand your palate and culinary skills. You might be surprised how tasty a homemade meal that’s rich in veggies and a variety of flavors can be. Search for a vegetarian recipe that gets your taste buds excited

  • Accept the things you cannot change, but don’t accept that you can’t change. There is no rewind button, so don’t dwell on the past. You are not perfect. Mistakes happen, you will slip up, and you will be frustrated. Let it go, learn from your past, and be okay with imperfection. You are only human. Choose to look forward and forgive yourself for something you may or may not have done in the past.
